Memorial Update

Thanks to everyone who helped make the Bobby Carlin Memorial Band/Jam Fest a big success! The turnout was smaller than we hoped for (around 80 people), mainly because of other activities in the area and the heat, but the generosity of those who attended and donated was overwhelming!

Special thanks need to go to the following people, who without their help this event would not have been possible:

Dirty Blue Knights, the Mary Clark Revue, Ton's 'o Fun, the former Flatland Band and ESP for their great music and enthusiasm in offering to donate an hour of playing time;

Dyke Corson, Chrissy Corson, Ed Clem, Jesse Francis and Dave Ohlsson for giving us the special one-time reunion of Flatland Band -- awesome!!

Rich Millar and Murray Outlaw from Fat City Saloon for letting us use their beer garden and staff;

Dyke Corson of Corson Music for providing all of the sound equipment, on stage and off, and for lending us his super sound men Chad and Steve;

Terry and Liz Hawkins of Skins 'n' Tins for providing us with a drum kit for the entire day;

Howie Golub, Matt Stewart, Scott Karlstrom, Jimmy Cogswell, Billy "Beet" Richardson, Bobby Watson, Dot Hines and all the other musicians for coming out to jam;

Jerry "Pork" Armstrong and WWHP - 98.3 FM for advertising weekly for us;

Bob Paleczny for adding all the information on his website;

Rex Anderson and Billy "Beet" Richardson for their assistance with the sound and video taping;

Carl Meyer of Pia's Sports Bar & Grill, Ralph Senn of Garcia's Pizza, Ramiro and Antonio of LaBamba Mexican Restaurant, Worden-Martin, Uncle Bob Wilson, ESP, Skin's 'n' Tins, Corson Music and Mike from WWHP for donating auction items;

Tom Tewell of Atwood -- the winner of the 50/50 drawing who generously donated his half of the winnings back to the cause;

and to all of Bobby's friends who attended from Pontiac, Chicago and Champaign-Urbana, Bruce Hall of REO Speedwagon for making a surprise appearance, Kerry Denny, and especially to Bob Smith, Kim Bogaert, Ron Smith, James McGraw, Fred and Virginia Payne, Don and Carla Chandler, and Bobby's family -- his mother Sylvia, sister Jeni, and brother Kenn and family (Lori & Allison) for all their help and support from the beginning.

We raised just over $1,200, which hopefully will send three students to drum camp -- way past our goal of only sending one! Thanks again so much to everyone who participated!
