Microsoft released November's Security Bulletins on 11/14/06
There were 5 Critical Updates and 1 Important Updates this month.

Microsoft released October's Security Bulletins on 10/11/06
There were 6 Critical, 1 Important, 2 Moderate and 1 Low Priority Updates this month.

Microsoft released September's Security Bulletins on 09/12/06 and Updated one on 9/26/06
There were 2 Critical, 1 Important and 1 Moderate Updates this month.

Microsoft released August's Security Bulletins on 08/08/06
There were 9 Critical Updates and 3 Important Updates this month. Some of the critical updates address vulnerabilites in all current versions of Windows. There is also a cumulative update for Internet Explorer, as well as an update to Microsoft Office that is critical for older versions and important for newer versions. As is their standard every month, they also updated the Malicious Software Removal Tool. As always visit Windows Update and install any that are recommended for your system.

Microsoft released June's Security Bulletins on 06/13/06
There were 12 Updates, including 8 Critical, 3 Important, and 1 Moderate Update this month. Some of the critical updates address flaws in Word, PowerPoint, JScript, Media Player, and Routing and Remote Access. There is also a Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer. The Important Updates secure vulnerabilities in Exchange Server, and Server Message Blocks. You can read about the updates at eWeek Security MS Patches Critical Windows Flaws. Flaw in Symantec Corporate Products - Patched
A stack overflow in Symantec Client Security (ver. 3.0 and 3.1) and Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition (ver 10.0 and 10.1) could potentially allow a remote or local attacker to execute code on the affected machine. Read Symantec's Security Advisory SYM06-010 about the vulnerability. Symantec was quick to respond with a fix and should be available by running Live Update. Vulnerabilites noted in Microsoft Word
A "zero-day" vulnerability in Word XP and Word 2003 may allow remote code execution. Microsoft released Security Bulletin 919637 discussing the vulnerability. A patch is expected to be released with the next scheduled update release June 13.
They may also release a rare "out-of-cylce" update.

Microsoft released May's Security Bulletins on 05/09/06
There were 2 Critical Updates and one Important Update this month. One of the critical updates MS06-019 fixes vulnerabilities in Microsoft Exchange Server, and should be applied by network administrators, a reboot may be required. The second critical update MS06-020 fixes vulnerabilites in Macromedia Flash Player from Adobe, more info and updates are also Available from Adobe APSB06-03. Microsoft re-released MS06-015 on 04/25/06
We're glad to hear the Microsoft recognized the problems with one of the updates in April's batch of Security Updates, and addressed the problem by re-releasing the patch.
Read the knowledge base article KB918165 that explains the problems opening or saving files in the My Documents directory on systems that have HP Share-to-Web software installed, (most systems with HP scanners, printers and cameras.) The patch installed a new binary file verclsid.exe and also affected users with Kerio Personal Firewall and some NVIDIA drivers.

Read the Microsoft Security Response Center Blog Entry which discusses the patch will be applied through Automatic Updates, if you hadn't installed the previous defective version, the new corrected version will be installed for you.
Kudos to MS for stepping up and fixing their error

Mozilla released a Firefox update 1.5.0.2 on 04/13/06
(And another update to version 1.5.0.3 on 5/3/06)
Between them the updates fixed 8 critical flaws and several moderate flaws, if you're interested read about the vulnerabilites at Mozilla's Known Vulnerabilites. Or read the article at PC Mag's Security Watch. This update will be downloaded and installed automatically the next time you use Firefox, you may want to check your version to verify it has.

Microsoft released April's Security Bulletins on 04/11/06
There were 3 Critical Updates this month, one Important, and one Moderate. One of the critical updates MS06-013 is a Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer, it addressed a recent zero-day exploit for the createTextRange() code flaw, and other issues. The IE update is large, 4.8 MB for the IE 6 Windows XP SP2 version, and affects basically all versions of IE, running under all currently supported versions of Windows. As always visit Windows Update and install any that are recommended for your system.

Microsoft released February's Security Bulletins on 02/14/06
There were 2 Critical Updates this month, one for Internet Explorer, and the other addressed a vulnerability in Window Media Player. There were also 5 updates rated Important this month. These addressed vulnerabilities in various modules such as TCP/IP, Web Client Service, again Windows Media Player, and Power Point. Due to the Power Point situation you should also visit Office Update to download any updates you may need to your Microsoft Office Programs. As is their standard every month, they also updated the Malicious Software Removal Tool. As always visit Windows Update and install any that are recommended for your system.

Besides the well publicized WMF fix there were 2 additional Critical Updates this month, one updates Windows and the other is an update to Exchange and Outlook. As is their standard every month, they also updated the Malicious Software Removal Tool. As always visit Windows Update and install any that are recommended for your system.

UPDATE: Microsoft releases WMF patch early - 1/5/06
Rather than waiting for their normal release date next Tuesday, Microsoft released a patch for the WMF vulnerability early. Microsoft claims the early relase was due primarily to customer concerns. This patch needs to be applied to all current versions of Windows, 2000, XP and Server 2003.
Read Microsoft's Tech Net Security Bulletin MS06-001 and install the patch appropriate for your operating system.
